On the way from Fianna’s to the DingXi train station… i got soooooo lost…
I ended up walking super super super far away…. and stumbled upon a ducati dealership.. (rare since there are sooo few real motorcycles in taiwan)
In the end I had to use my half ass zhongwen abilities to ask for directions at a 7eleven…

We travelled south through taiwan to the southern section…
I was a little concerned because I had read that I have to be especially careful in the south from disease, and germs my body isn’t used to… but it all worked out okay…
it’s soo hot in the south…

We found this nice area where the was a live band playing in a sorta.. giant outdoor cafe

We journeyed to the Eastern side of Taiwan.. to hualien and taidong…
Now if you haven’t heard before in taiwan 台湾 there are cities of Taipei台北 (Where PEI means North), Taizhong or Taichiung台中 (Middle), Taixi台西 (East) although i heard it is very small town, Tainan台南(South), Taidong台東 (East).
Between Eastern Taiwan and the rest of taiwan there are MASSIVE mountain ranges running down the center of the island. Because of this, it is very difficult to drive to the east… and there is a complex set of roads and tunnels to carry you through… it took a very long time to build and resulted in many deaths… consequently, through the marble gorge and areas there are many shrines and such to remember this…
We took a domestic plane to get there… it actually flies out over the water and around the mountains…
It was kind of amusing… the flight attendants (there are only two) read everything they say from a card… maybe they need to announce in manderin, english, and hokkien though…
The flights… ascend…they give you some milk tea… then before you’ve finished your milk tea… it’s time to descent =P
Hualien is such a beautiful place… and going to the east was one of my favourite things in taiwan!!
There is ocean.. then a small mountain range, the towns (eg: hualien and taidong) then the massive mountain range that splits up the island into east and non-east.. so a hotel in the small mountain range could have a view of the ocean on one side and the city and massive mountain range on the other….
We even got to watch some aboriginal taiwanese dance. It is interesting to compare with dance from other places in polynesia… many similiarities.. but also differences…
